Tasks You Have to Do ForYou Make Lucid Language when You Speak?

January 26th, 2010

Talking properly is tough (as long as those duties are not vital to the job, an available place for the worker to go to be alone for quiet time to help relieve the pressures of the job, rest breaks to prevent stimulus overload and exhaustion, job restructuring, part-time or modified work schedules, reassignment to a different position, acquisition or modification or workplace equipment or devices, training materials or policies in baille or a simplified language, provision of readers or interpreters (disability rights center). For example, if the individual is having a difficult time remembering what tasks to do, it may be recommended that they carry a notebook to write down what is asked of them.

Clear Speech: Practice

  • Indistinct speech can result from slurring words, speaking in a muffled voice, running words and phrases together, dropping endings and just failure to enunciate words and phrases or groups of words and phrases

Tense Voice, Good Pitch

  • The other end of the spectrum is a distressed voice. Some have developed a habit of speaking in a distressed voice as part of their normal conversation. It is hard to describe but when you hear someone do it, you will know it.
  • The speech as compared with resonating in the mouth, comes from the throat and sounds deeper, raspy, and forced. So even though you have clear speech, it is indistinct
  • Indistinct speech could be caused by failure to open the mouth enough or too much. Rigidity in the jaw muscles and or lips could contribute. This rigidity could come from nervousness or from habit
  • Slurring phrases or running them together can be the result of a learned behavior or cultural behavior. In addition, it includes dropping syllables indiscriminately or being a cultural norm. These should be corrected to to communicate clearly and distinctly.

Harmonic and Acoustic Transference to Stop Locust Swarms

September 8th, 2009

Is it possible to stop a locust plague thru use of sound waves, harmonics and acoustic directional sound technologies? First we know that Locust Swarms are intense with as many as 20 million insects ripping thru the countryside eating everything in sight. Indeed these swaths of devastation can be five to twenty square miles wide.

How could we build a directional sound machine capable of stopping locust plagues on our neighbors? Or even within the United States? Perhaps we could use one of these?

http://worldthinktank.net/wttbbs/index.php?showtopic=215

Perhaps use a convoy of semi trucks, drive along side of them open up one sides of all of them and blast them with sound waves from huge array panels? Like the non-lethal crowd control units they have now, but on a massive scale? Or put the think in a blimp and fly over them and send the sound waves down to the ground? Or put reflective coating like the strawberry field sheets of plastic down in front of the locust plagues path and then when the locusts fly over use the blimp to send the sound waves down which would also reflect back to give them a double dose of Dolby surround-a-sound?

Make sure the resonance used will not interfere with the Blimp in any way, we do not need a repeat of the old Comet Airliner breaking apart in the air or the gas inside the blimp hyper-excited and expanding too fast? Unless you have pressure escape; the blimp might shoot up very rapidly and explode? What type of delivery system could we possibly build? Consider all this in 2006.

Low Cost Thin Film Solar Panels

September 8th, 2009

It’s an exciting time for solar panels. A new thin polymer photovoltaic layer called Powerglass can be applied to windows, canopies and roofs to turn them into mini power plants to supply electricity to the structure on which they are applied. This is a new concept that involves solar power generation built right into windows that makes use of the structure and surface area that would be perfect for a solar panel array. Huge high rise buildings have much more surface area in the form of windws than they do on top of their roughs. This means that Powerglass is poised to be an attractive idea and potentially can increase the use of solar panels dramatically. This is a very pleasant surprise to the solar panel industry which is just now starting to blossom.

Solar panel investors have recently seen a nice surprise in their portfolios. Many small stocks have increased 3 to 4 fold over the last 6 months. Thin film polymer photovoltaic layers can now be layed right onto the glass of windows without any loos in visibility. Large area sheets of thin-film pv can now be spread onto glass in a manner that is cost effective. Currently, companies are racing to make use of this new technology and build factories to output this thin film material to meet the demand that is currently rising as more engineers and building contractors are learning about Power Glass. Perhaps this thin film solar panel will someday soon be produced at such a rate where more and more manufactures will get creative with how to use it. Perhaps it will start to coat the side of trucks who have all that sqaure footage of metal beaming in the sun all day long. These solar panels work not only on window glass, but on any solid surface. As manufacturing steps up, thin film PV will be produced in larger quantities and with a lower price tag to the consumer. Rolled flexible plastic can lead to low cost and high efficiency solar devices that provide an alternative to unflexible glass silicon cells.

This is great news because silicon is starting to become expensive as supply is not increasing and keeping up with demand. Patented manufacturing design to produce the Power Glass films will soon reach a multi megawatt level. Multi megawatt factories making thin film solar panels will allow solar power to give your local electric utility some serious competetion.

There is much more to be written about this subject, so please visit my website for more information about solar panels: http://www.solarpanel.be

2006 Trends in Autonomous Underwater Vehicles AUVs

May 26th, 2009

In 2005 we witnessed researchers and scientists come out with new designs and applications for AUVs Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and Underwater ROVs Remotely Operated Vehicles. Some still call AUVs; UUVs or Unmanned Underwater Vehicles. All of which had significant advances in 2005.

ROVs for instance proved their self worth in rescuing Russian Submersible crewmembers who were stuck under an underwater cable and running out of oxygen. AUVs assisted in the New Orleans Hurricane Katrina Disaster and Solar Powered AUVs are currently working with bio-remediation and environmental clean up teams in Lake Ponchartrain.

At MIT Marine Lab researchers and Grad Students put together robotic fish using polymer muscles and skeletal actuators, which powered the AUVs like a fish wiggling thru the water.

The United States Navy and the US Coast Guard ordered many unmanned autonomous vehicles for underwater surveillance of shipyards, harbors and coastlines. These units will also be used to guard the Navy fleet from underwater enemy submarine threats as well. In 2006 we will see major contracts awarded to defense contractors using net-centric systems including AUVs to patrol our coastlines.

We will see AUVs, which are self recharging from the sun and from underwater wave motion generators which will be omni-present. We will see more monitoring of volcanic vents and studying of deep see creatures that the world has never seen with incredible video footage that will put previous undersea science fiction movies to shame. All this in 2006.

Military Defense Weapon Trends for 2006

March 26th, 2009

In 2005 we saw the Unmanned Aerial Surveillance Vehicles prove their worth as they continued to earn the keep in the battlespace in the Middle East; both in Afghanistan and in Iraq. We saw a number of different systems being used, both large aircraft size UAVs like the Global Hawk and the Predator and small “remote control” aircraft size UAVs in more urban combat settings with the United States Marine Corp. What will 2006 bring in the way of new defensive weapons to fight the war on terror both away and her at home? What trends should we watch and what comes next?

Expect to see more Unmanned Vehicles along our borders both in the air and on the ground. Expect to see new tactics being developed for robotic vehicles using swarming technique. Expect to see more bio-sensors to detect disease, anthrax and chemical agents at border crossings and protecting our troops abroad. Expect more use of high-energy lasers for shooting down incoming missiles and enemy aircraft.

Expect to see underwater unmanned vehicles which do surveillance and are tied into the net-centric battlespace thru direct ship communication and satellites and other unmanned vehicles in the air, water or on the ground. Expect to see more non-lethal and lethal energy weapons to stop intruders or disrupt threats to our national security interests, citizenry, first responders or soldiers. You can expect all of this in 2006.

Japan, Robotics, and Space Race

March 5th, 2009

Can the Japanese outpace the World in the Race for Space? Some believe that they have good reason to, as they live on an island and need growing room (more space). We know that Japan is heavy into satellite technologies, space research and excel in high-tech gadgetry and robotics. Could Japan really be the main competition in the race for space?

In the last year they have landed on an asteroid, sent up several very high-powered state of the art satellites. They have universities with prototypes on the drawing boards ready to be built and they are pushing the future of space with the next up and coming generation. Will Japan continue to lead in the race for space, space research and robotics?

Yes, I would have agreed on the Robotic comment three weeks ago, but after the huge Tokyo Robotic Expo, now Sony has exited the robot market, is delaying Playstation III and downsizing departments. Thus such a huge and respected Japanese Corporation will create a small vacuum which will be hard to fill by their smaller companies and put them a couple car lengths back as our US kids with up and coming focus on robotics thru the school level contests. The Japanese “techie” culture is indeed alive and well, although geared more towards entertainment and consumerism. Consider this in 2006, but do not underestimate the Empire of Japan.
