Hell to Shun Heaven to Gain

The streets are crowded, the shops are thriving, clubs filled with delights and pleasure. Immorality became the thing of the past and worldly pleasures took control. The sun shone, the rain poured, the wind blew, the lightning struck, the thunder roared, the earth quaked and the people rolled. A black cloud appeared in the sky as small as a man’s hand, but it got bigger and brighter until the light filled the whole sky. Celestial beings flew in the sky and the Mighty Warrior came and crushed the enemy.

Look and See

The mountains knew, the earth knew and all other created things knew, but people knew not. The earth groaned in pain, unleashing its fires of hell against the human race. But still they remained blind to the fact that time’s running out for them and feel so comfortable remaining in their stupor. But that’s okay if this is what they have chosen. Remember, judgement day is coming. Whether we believe in God or not, we will all have to give an account for the life lived on earth.

Can’t you see how the nations are angry? We love ourselves and give much disregard for others. Are you noting the frequent disasters? People’s denial and the audacity of those dare to blaspheme about the existence of God and his Son Jesus Christ our saviour? Note also, children’s disgrace to themselves and their families by choosing to become criminals. This is of the prophetic signs Jesus foretold would occur before his eminent return.

His Promise

Jesus promised that he would return and that we must take heed of the signs taking place in our world today, so that he would not come upon us as a ‘thief in the night’. It is certain that he will do so to those who do not listen and live the life which he gifted them. This he has promised! He was sent to give us hope of eternal life by dying for our sins and rising again. Upon his resurrection, he promised his disciples that he would come again, he said: “Preach and tell the world about my promises”. He also said to his disciples; “I am going to prepare a place for you, and when I return, I will receive you unto myself, and where I am, that’s where you, my people, will be.” He said; “Have faith and believe in God or it would be impossible to please God.” The bible states that; “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen and that we are saved by his grace and not by works.”

Fashion of His Coming

Jesus says that we would see in the sky a small cloud, small as a man’s hand. This cloud would become bigger and brighter. His father and his angels will escort him back to earth. His eyes would be as flames of fire to take vengeance upon those who have denied and blasphemed his name and lived in sin. Yet, he would be unto his saints a glorious redeemer, merciful, gracious, loving, kind and a saviour to them. But to the wicked he will be like a consuming fire.

Jesus also promised that he will return as Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. Upon his head will be a triple crown. His coming will be no secret, it fact, it will be tremendously loud. The dead will rise from their resting places, even those who pierced him. This, Jesus will call the first resurrection. The saints will rise at his coming and will welcome him in the air. Those who pierced him shall only rise to witness him who they tortured and crucified with such evil. His brightness will slay them and they will return to their dusty graves awaiting the second resurrection, when all the wicked shall rise to stand before their maker to be sentenced”.

Moreover, Jesus says that he would shine brighter than the sun and his brightness will slay the wicked, but his saints will behold him because he would change their earthly bodies to a glorious one in a twinkling of an eye. They will live in his presence.

He will appear in the sky where everyone will witness his coming, but many shall run to the mountains and say; “Fall on us, hide us from him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb (Jesus)”. But, Jesus will take his people home with him in glory, including those who will rise from the dead. Satan and his demons will be left on the earth awaiting their final punishment from the Almighty God. The earth will be in complete darkness and God’s enemies will be ruined. Ruined, because the earth at the coming of Christ will reel like a drunkard and a mighty earthquake will befall all creation and works of mankind.

Read the word of God and make a decision of eternal life or death. I trust your decision will be the right one.

Even tho God is a Loving God, He still has a measure of Respect that He demands of His people(Children). Lets read, Pro 1:23-31; “Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity ( “destruction” the King James Version); the devastation of war (Jer.46:21 adversities of any kind (Pro.27:10).); I will mock when your fear cometh;

The significance of the covenant idea in the Old Testament can scarcely be overestimated.
The prophets constantly make reference to it by insisting that the fate of Israel will always be determined by the extent to which its people are faithful or unfaithful to the obligations placed upon them by the covenant. When israel entered into a covenant relationship with God, they agreed to all stipulations that were laid down by God. When Israel broke this covenant they became a “Disobedient, Back-sliding and Gain-saying” People.

Rom 10:20-21; But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. ( This was the Gentile race of people)
But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gain-saying people. (The word,”gain-saying” means; to contest, argue, dispute, and challenge.)

Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby back-sliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. ( The people of Israel, as in the Days of Moses, were getting tired of following after The covenant relationship that they agreed to. They started to follow after strange gods and doctrines.)

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.= (
This last statement is Bible Prophecy that has come to pass, not only in the days of Roman occupation but also in recent history.)

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer they shall seek: (Psa.78:34-36; Hos.5:15, Hos.6:1-4;) they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:(Gen.6:3; Job.27:9, Job.35:12; Psa.18:41; Isa.1:15; Jer.11:11, Jer.14:12; Eze.8:18; Mic.3:4; Zec.7:13; Mat.7:22, Mat.7:23, Mat.25:10-12; Luke 13:25-28; James 4:3) For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord (They hated knowledge - This argues the deepest degree of intellectual and moral depravity).

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. ( Pro.1:30, Pro.5:12, Pro.12:1; Psa.81:11) Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. This statement is also prophecy. It not only represents the state of Israel but also includes the Gentile race. We are allowed by God to make our own decisions but we are held accountable for them.

This is also prophecy in Jer 18:17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity. I will provoke you - These words are taken from Deu.32:21. In that place the declaration refers to the idolatrous and wicked conduct of the Jews. God says that they had provoked him, or excited his indignation, by worshiping what was not God, that is, by idols; and he, in turn, would excite their envy and indignation by showing favors to those who were not regarded as a people; that is, to the Gentiles.

They had shown favor, or affection, for what was not God, and by so doing had provoked him to anger; and he also would show favor to those whom they regarded as no people, and would thus excite their anger. Thus, he would illustrate the great principle of his government in 2Sa.22:26-27, “With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with the pure, thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the fro-ward thou wilt show thyself unsavory,” that is, fro-ward.
Barnes states:

Psa.18:26. In this passage the great doctrine which Paul was defending is abundantly established - that the Gentiles were to be brought into the favor of God; and the cause also is suggested to be the obstinacy and rebellion of the Jews. It is not clear that Moses had particularly in view the times of the gospel; but he affirms a great principle which is applicable to those times - that if the Jews should be rebellious, and prove themselves unworthy of his favor, that favor would be withdrawn, and conferred on other nations. The effect of this would be, of course, to excite their indignation. Rom 10:19-21;

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gain-saying people. The prophet Isaiah proceeds to specify in what this rebellion consisted, and to show that this was their character; Isa.65:2-7. The argument of the apostle is this; namely, the ancient character of the people was that of wickedness; God is represented as stretching out his hands in vain; they rejected him, and he was sought and found by others. It was implied, therefore, that the rebellious Jews would be rejected; and, of course, the apostle was advancing and defending no doctrine which was not found in the writings of the Jews themselves.

Earnestness, especially in beseeching, is denoted by the passages, (Job.11:13; Psa.68:31; Psa.88:9).
Jer 18:17
I will shew them the back - The hiding of God’s face is the sure sign of His displeasure Isa.1:15; Isa.59:2. “they gaze, they look” with joy “upon Me.” Psa.22:17. The rejoicing over them was doubtless, as among savages, accompanied with grimaces (as in Psa.35:19; Psa.38:16). Then follow words of insult. The enlarging of the mouth is uttering a tide of large words, here against the people of God; in Ezekiel, against Himself Eze.35:13 : “Thus with your mouth ye have enlarged against Me and have multiplied your words against Me.
I have heard.”

God states,”I have heard.” The dreadful words that God speakes against Israel. We are all bound by the words we speak. For the Bible states clearly that, “We shall give account for every idle word that proceeds out of our mouth. Israel spoke against Gods rule and God heard.

Bible prophecy; The name Jew - what ideas does it convey to all the nations of the earth? It is connected with reproach; a name regarded as belonging to a people accursed by God; a name more universally detested than any other known among people. And was it not because this name would be thus dishonored, reproached, and despised, that another was given to the true people of God - the name Christian - an honored name - denoting true attachment to the Messiah?

Isa 65:15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name.(Christian.) Eze 22:4 Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

Isa 43:28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches. Mal 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

The prophet’s head, which was to be shaved, signified Jerusalem, which by the judgments of God was now to be stripped of all its ornaments, to be emptied of all its inhabitants, and to be set naked and bare, to be shaved with a razor that is hired, Isa.7:20. The head of one that was a priest, a prophet, a holy person, was fittest to represent Jerusalem the holy city.

SUCH A TIME LIKE THIS

The LORD raises up people for different reasons
The Bible records stories of times and seasons
Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jonah and Esther are a few
Of those that God raised up, his bidding to do
How about Stephen, James, John, Peter and Paul
To do his work on earth, on them God did call

Brother Daniel was born and lived to record
Much about prayer and the workings of the LORD
He wrote that in the last days knowledge would increase
After he finished chapter 12, God let him rest in peace
Malachi was a prophet born to preach and write
His four chapters point to the dawning of a new light

In our present year of two thousand and five A.D.
God still raises up people like you and me
To do his work in such a time like this
To point others to Jesus so heaven they won’t miss
Knowledge has increased and many are running to and fro
God’s word is truth, this one thing I know

Are movies like The Omen or the more recent TV series Revelations helpful? Even though they are not always biblically sound or historically accurate, can’t we glean some good things from them anyway?

Answer

I once heard a man describe the Hollywood crowd as a bunch of crooks and robbers with the morality of a pack of jackals. I concur with this assessment in general, so it is hard for me to conceive of anything redemptive coming from a Hollywood interpretation of one of the gravest and most important teaching of the scripture. One of the ways the arch- deceiver has succeeded in luring even the most cautious and circumspect of people, is to mix just enough truth in with his lies to subtly seduce the hearer. It is a sort of garnishment or embellishment that makes the most poisonous plate look palatable after all. The seriousness of billions of people meeting their doom, earthquakes leveling every city on the planet and the destruction of every major institution of man should hardly he trusted to the Hollywood crowd.

It is even harder to address some of the well meaning Christian authors who have introduced some very popular fiction about the second coming. Books like, Left Behind may be very entertaining but the bottom line is still that they are after all, only fiction. Over thirty years past I made a statement in some of my messages that didn’t seem well received or even believed. I repeat it now with an ever increasing frequency, but now I find more acceptances for what I am saying. Americans who have their eyes wide open and their hearts tuned by God are now concurring with me when I say that, We have come to the place where entertainment is so important to us that we are losing sight of where fantasy ends and real life begins.

When the comedic movie mogul Charlie Chaplin 1889- 1977, was at the peak of his career, a Chaplin look-alike craze was sweeping the world. In America, Europe and South America tens of thousands of people dressed in the garb of the famous actor and imitated his well known walk and his extravagant antics. It is a well known fact that many times Chaplin entered his own look-alike contests. He never won any of them, and it is said that many times he couldn’t even make the finals. Our ability to see the difference between the look alike and the real thing is quite ineffective as this story shows. Why would anyone trust our skills to differentiate between the real and the unreal concerning something as important as the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ?

When the events start to unfold at a pace that no one can imagine there will he no time to debate which of the portents that are unfolding came from the Bible, and which came from the Hollywood version of things. That would only leave people more confused, more vulnerable and in the end, more dead. If you want the truth, doesn’t it make sense to go to the source of truth? Hollywood even at its best has never been heralded as a source of truth. God is always the best source to find Gods will and plan.
