Surefire Ways to Develop a Thankful Attitude

October 24th, 2008

Spend some time thinking about how good you have it. We know this, but we don’t often spend time pondering it. Doing so will shape and mold your attitude and develop healthy thought patterns that will make you more thankful all of the time.

As the old hymn goes, “Count Your Blessings, Name Them One By One.” Take some time and write down every single thing you have in your life to be thankful about. Do this with your children if you have some, and you will all be astounded at all the good things in your life.

Look down the socioeconomic chain instead of up. Focusing our thoughts on the things we don’t have, while being a motivator, can also be a source of envy and greed. Focusing, at least on a semi-regular basis, on those who have less than us, causes us to be thankful for what we have.

Go work at a food bank. The more success we achieve, the more apt we are to live our lives around others who are successful while eliminating or drastically reducing our contact with those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Working at a food bank will open your eyes once again to a world you may have forgotten about.

Send a good-sized check on a regular basis. To whatever charity you choose, of course. Richard Foster says in his book Money, Sex, and Power, that money desires to be loved, courted, desired and hoarded. Giving money away breaks the power money can wield over us. Remember, money isn’t the root of evil, the love of money is the roots of all kinds of evil. Giving a good chunk away on a regular basis keeps things in perspective.

Simplify. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that the true measure of a man’s wealth is in the things he can afford not to buy. When we simplify, we realize how we can make do on so much less. It makes us thankful for all the extra’s we have most of the time. Read the classic “Walden.” If you really want to get radical, fast for a day or two. You will really be thankful when you get to eat again!

Remember, ultimately what we have has been given to us. Yes, we work hard, but Someone allows us the breath to breathe each moment. Billy Graham was asked what surprised him most about life and he answered “The brevity of it.” Life is short. We can’t take it for granted. We should remember that life, and success, is a gift. That is something to be thankful for.

The 101 on Dental Crowns

October 23rd, 2008

By now, you’ve probably heard a great deal about dental crowns. You may even have some in your own mouth. If so, chances are your dentist has explained the procedure, the materials used, why you needed them in the first place, etc.

For the uninitiated, what follows is an overview of this remarkable piece of dental prosthetics that can do wonders for teeth damaged by neglect, illness, wear and injury.

What They Are

Basically, dental crowns are nothing more than caps, shaped and colored to resemble, natural healthy tooth material that is slipped over a tooth that is damaged. Most often, they are used for people whose teeth have become worn and/or slightly chipped due to age-related wear; dental crowns are also commonly used to restore teeth that have been subject to decay and are thus weakened. They are also used when teeth have been injured as the result of an accident.

Dental crowns are also used in conjunction with other restorative and cosmetic dental procedures; when bridgework is required, the teeth on either side of the gap for which the bridge is required may receive dental crowns in order to support it. Dental crowns are also used to cover dental implants, or fully prosthetic teeth.

Where They Came From

In their present form, dental crowns relative recent dental innovations. The idea however is quite ancient. The Etruscans, a non Indo-Aryan speaking people who lived in the present-day Tuscany region of Italy prior to their assimilation by the Romans, were known to have performed dental procedures that while crude by modern standards, were remarkably advanced for their time. In those days, the material used consisted of natural tooth material taken from animals or dead people; these were held in place by metal clips.

This particular method of dental restoration was lost with the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, although the Mayans of modern-day Mexico and Guatemala experimented with similar dental prostheses (made from sea shells) while Europe was experiencing the “Dark Ages.”

Modern-day crowns date from the 19th century, when dentists began using porcelain - which is the preferred material today. These early crowns were not particularly comfortable, but they were an improvement over nothing at all.

Crowns Today

Several innovations over the course of the 20th century have resulted in dental crowns that are so comfortable and natural-looking that it is difficult for most people to distinguish them from real teeth.

Discovering The Art of Bending Your Mindset And Manifesting Your Multiple Intelligences

October 21st, 2008

Discovering the Art of Bending Your Mindset and Manifesting
your Multiple Intelligences in selling.

Doctor’s cant’ sell Real Estate! What’s your mindset?
A number of people related this statement to me when I first
decided to get into sellingreal estate over 20 years ago. And
you know they were right!

It really depends on your experience, attitude and mindset!
But what an exciting and challenging profession! Especially,
the privilege of meeting so many interesting and fascinating
people! A top producer once told me, “What’s a nice Doctor
like you doing Swimming with The Sharks”? I replied, “I don’t
swim with the Sharks, I just out service and out race them!
And I know a lot of nice people in Real Estate, including you”!

It all depends on your mindset, attitude, flexibility and
adaptability, which we all have. But mindset adjustment takes
time and a lot of effort. Yes, learning to use our inherent
Multiple Intelligences. Having been a real estate broker for
over 20 years, I can now understand why they ask how long
you have been in the business? The real estate sales
business is incredibly competitive. All agents are working for
themselves. This of course simulates your creativity and
innovation; otherwise you’re not going to eat.

The techniques about maneuvering within the sales system
are critical for survival as a Real Estate Professional. The
reason is everybody is competing for customers, clients and
contacts. It took me three years to understand some of
techniques that are utilized by successful real estate
professionals. Having been a Doctor, as a practicing
Podiatrist, for over 38 years, including selling real estate has
been a series of fascinating adventures, but not easy.

At the time I couldn’t find one Doctor to be my Mentor, in the
entire country. Finding any Doctor who had transcended from
Doctoring into successful Real Estate Sales? Oh, lots
invested in Real Estate but with a third party decision maker.
Which at times resulted in loss of funds, while the
entrepreneurs usually worked with the Doctor’s money.
Sometimes I would become very angry as to the competitive
tactics, techniques and aggressiveness in the field but this
was because of my inexperience. Finally, after counseling
with a number of successful Real Estate Professionals, I
realized it was a System of Selling. It was a matter of
marketing and looking at it as a roller coaster ride, and
making the decision along with the excitement and
sometimes confusion

Real Estate Clients/Customers aren’t going to be flocking to
your office, as a Doctor. Your earned professional integrity,
knowledge and expertise over the years brought the
marvelous world of referrals. Not only from patients,
colleagues but the world. But that world is partially an illusion
in Real Estate. Also your status position is a community is
relegated to the perception people have of Real Estate
Professionals, as compared to a Doctor. This perception is
real, no different to being compared as discerning an
Attorney and a Doctor. What really matters is Your
Perception of Yourself, especially during the Mindset
Transitional Stage. And I might add the utilization of your
inherent Multiple Intelligences.

Discovering on Bending Your Mindset

I really began to like this competitive feeling after a few years,
especially since I was now selling, and understanding the
sellers and buyers problems and needs. This is in addition
to improving the sales agents techniques and systems of
selling. My one objection with home sales was the constant
driving and traveling but I soon learned how to qualify and
comprehend the motives, wants and needs of many of the
sellers and buyers. This only comes with actual experience
in the arena

Essentially, diagnosing the best way to help fulfill
clients/customers needs. They really appreciated this
professionalism rather than just trying to sell them a piece of
property. Besides the property doesn’t buy or sell itself,
people do! It’s interesting but there is a nasty word such as
recession, especially if it involves your own properties! The
taxes, mortgage payments and insurance continue. In order
to avoid bankruptcy and financial disaster, I actually went
back to auctioneering school, and became a Professional
Auctioneer to auction off my own properties. I’m still an
auctioneer. Again illustrating how adaptable, resilient and
flexible we are.

And what does this Doctor, Broker and Auctioneer do today,
in addition to other adventures, like still playing my
bagpipes? I now devote much of my time, to profitable
networking within the massive cooperative market of
professionals in the mentioned fields of interests. Become a
Master of Delegation and Cooperative Sharing with all Top
Professionals in each field.

Your Multi National Real Property Space: Made Easy by Property Index

October 20th, 2008

Property Index have a range of properties for sale in Spain, from villas to apartments.

In spite of the fact that the Property Index service is generally viewed as a fairly young firm, doing business since March 2007, they were fast to prove their expertise. They are actually a pretty easy-going firm specialising in offering informed instructions to everyone proposing to let, sell, rent, etc. real estate across the globe. Their promise is to lend you a hand to find smack what’s required very quickly as well as without pain. Real estate is at your fingertips all over the place currently, one of the most exclusive areas being real estate for sale in Spain. It’s quite easy to write up the great estate you can purchase in Spain, the reason for looking for property here is properties on the market and the option of being able to live amid this lively and enthusiastic population.

This is one of the most sought after regions of the world currently, and with the gorgeous landscape and agreeable weather surrounding you all day long, how could you conceivably go wrong? Real estate in Spain is very rich in history and culture, this geographical region has been and still is home to a number of sophisticated nations. About 30 years back you’d find merely a trickle of British people keen on estate in Spain. Just ask about anyone who has emigrated to Spain and they will confirm it. There are those who would are wont to call it a short-lived rage and others are wont to call it a virtually a fixation. The people that are interested in moving to this place extend from young well to do couples looking for a bit of a new challenge to senior citizens who intend to enjoy themselves and take it easy.

Do bear in mind, however, that there might well be setbacks when looking to acquire estate in a foreign country — there will be 100s of heterogeneous procedures be it when devising a plan, popping in or buying. Even if one single minute action is missed this could definitely bring about overwhelming setbacks as well as, more important, money loss. Obviously and expectably with this popular area, estate can be fairly expensive in this area which is solely owing to the broad market pressure. Despite this the customer is quite spoilt in terms of choice in an area so richly blessed by phenomenal view. Presently it has everything a patron may hanker after, and more.

Why 1.5 Megapixels is Enough

October 19th, 2008

Dots Per Inch is a useful measure of relative resolution. But if you don’t know the image size in inches or some other measure of size, then the amount of dots per inch doesn’t mean much. That’s why DPI is used in conjunction with scanner Specifications, because you know that the size is going to be 3.8 by 1.7 inches!

Different resolutions are used for different purposes. 72 or 75 DPI for screen viewing; 250 for digital photography and 300 dpi for printing. See how this is a nice comparison, yes, you can get away with 50 less pixels per inch in your photographs than would be required for A4 printing, this is because of the physical size of the photo!rnrnDots Per Inch specifies how much information is resolved in a picture, whereas the number of megapixels is usually used to describe the total output size (in pixels) of an image.

Example: I want to reproduce the standard photograph size. This would be 6 by 4 inches. Digital photography requires a minimum of only about 250dpi, So: 6 * 250 = 1500 and 4 * 250 = 1000, so you need an image sized about 1500 * 1000 pixels (about 1.5 megapixels). Thus you can get a perfectly good standard print from a 1.5 megapixel camera! rnrnIf you take a photo twice, one at 5 and the other at 1.5 megapixels, than ask your self which one looks “better”? They will both look reasonable because your computer generates colours such that the image looks better than it really is; if you were to print both as a 6 by 4 image, they will look identical, because your printer can’t generate more than 300 dpi so the “better” image is effectively reduced in quality anyway. This example demonstrates how it is possible to literally waste memory, ie for everyday use the additional memory required for the other 4 megapixcels gives you no real benefit!

This is quite good because a 36 Megabyte media card can store 50 to 65 images at 1.3 megapixcels but only 8 to 10 at 5 megapixcels, so unless you are planning on getting your images printed larger than 6 by 4 there’s no real advantage to the full 5 megapixcels.

Now we have established that a 1.5 megapixel camera will produce a 6 by 4 inch standard photograph, that is, it will generate a resolution such that each pixel is simply reproduced “as is”, we come to the more interesting issue of enlargement.

If you wanted to print your 6 by 4 inch image as a 10 by 8 photo (which would normally need the full 5 megapixels), there would not be a sufficient number of pixels for the additional surface area, so we now need to scale up the existing pixels by “resampling” the existing pixels, a process which estimates how the “missing” pixels should appear, and fills them with the appropriate “colour”.

Satellite Television - How Does It Work?

October 17th, 2008

Ever wondered why we have satellite television? I know I have, particularly when we already have terrestrial or broadcast television available. They both seem very similar, the only difference being that with satellite you get lots more choice of channel. Of course there is cable television too, a fierce competitor for both services, but in this article I am going to stick to satellite television.

The local terrain and the curvature of the earth limit terrestrial TV signals in the area that they can server. Both terrestrial and Satellite TV use essentially the same kind of signals but by beaming the signal from above, one satellite is able to serve a wider area. This is why satellite television has become popular in remote areas where it isn’t practical to serve people with a land based antenna and certainly not economic to provide cables to those areas.

Using satellites to broadcast the TV signals solves the problem. Orbiting more than 22,000 miles above the ground they revolve around the Earth once every 24hrs, which is the same time as it takes the planet to make one complete rotation. Therefore the satellite will always stay above the same spot on the ground and it is said to be in geostationary orbit. Because the satellite is very high in the sky the transmission of the signal reaches large numbers of customers and people that are in normally remote and inaccessible places are able to take advantage. The satellites not only transmit direct back to the ground, but they are also in communication with each other, making a huge network to distribute to the largest possible numbers of people. Because the satellite is geostationary you only need to set your TV satellite dish once, in the best position to receive a signal. You shouldn’t ever have to move it again.

It is possible to set up a satellite dish on you property and receive signals from a number of different satellites, often for free. To do this you will need a dish that can be moved to point at the satellite you want to receive signals from. Some satellites of interest to amateurs aren’t even geostationary so you can only get signals from them for part of the day and your dish needs to be able to track the satellite as it moves across the sky. Most people however want to receive signals for entertainment with the least amount of fuss and so they subscribe to paid ‘Direct Broadcast Satellite’ (DBS) services like DirecTV, Dish or Sky (UK). The premium channels streamed from these satellite networks are encrypted so you need special equipment to view them and you pay for the encryption key to unlock the decoder.

Satellite TV companies make money from their networks in a variety of ways. There are three methods that are in general use today.

  • Advertising

Organisations pay the network to broadcast adverts. We all hate it but it does pay for our entertainment, or part of it at least.

  • Subscriptions

Paying a monthly fee for the right to be able to view channels that are encrypted. Your subscription generally gets you a smart card that is programmed with the decryption information and inserted into your receiver box.

  • TV Licence Fee

If you are in the UK and you have equipment that is capable of receiving TV signals then the law states you must pay for a TV licence. Note that you don’t have to use the equipment; you just have to possess it. The money from the licence fee goes to pay for the British Broadcasting Company or BBC and in return we don’t see any advertising or encryption on any BBC channels. This was a good idea in the early days of radio and TV and it helped to produce and maintain high standards of broadcasting all over the world. My personal opinion now however is that the licence fee is nothing more than yet another tax that we have to pay and I feel that the BBC should begin to stand on it’s own two feet. I doubt that it will happen anytime soon though.

If a broadcaster uses only advertising to pay for their service then you may receive and view the signals without payment or subscription. If you live in the UK you still have to pay the licence fee though.

There are five components needed to link the programme makers and the satellite television customer:

  • Distribution

The DBS provider does not create the programmes themselves, they pay for the right to be able to broadcast them via satellite television. They act as a ‘middleman’ between the ‘programming sources’ or channels and you.

  • Satellite Television Provider

Signals from the broadcast centre sources are received by the provider and transmitted to the network of satellites in orbit.

  • Satellites

The signals are received by the satellite network and retransmitted back to Earth.

  • Receiving equipment

Equipment normally provided by the DBS to allow you to receive the signal from the satellite above. A receiving dish must be professionally installed somewhere on your property.

  • Decoding and viewing

A box near your TV will take the signal received and decode your chosen channels into a form that you can watch.

I bet you never realised that there was so much involved in satellite television. It is indeed a marvel of technology and provides us with high quality up to date entertainment from all over the world. Television technology has come a very long way in such a short time.

Steve is a software engineer and loves to watch movies on his Satellite Television. He is also the webmaster at Satellite Television Keep in touch with what’s new at http://www.sattelite-television.thegrandfatherclock.com

DISH NETWORK - Do Not Order Directly From Dish Network

October 16th, 2008

If You are searching for the best deal on satellite TV from Dish Network, you would think that one would obtain the best deal by ordering directly from the main service provider…This is NOT so!

When ordering a DISH NETWORK satellite system, it is actually better for the consumer to order online from an authorized DISH NETWORK disributor as they will offer a much better deal than if you went directly through DISH NETWORK themselves.

Why is that you may ask?

Well, it seems that DISH NETWORK would prefer to use the services of authorized distributors to deal with the formalities involved with the actual order and installation process of the satellite systems.

Keep in mind that DISH NETWORK provides service to the entire USA and it would be an absolute impossibility for them to manage all of the orders and installations on their own.

Now, without going into great details as to why the DISH NETWORK distributors are able to offer such amazing deals, the fact is that the competition amongst them is so fierce that many distributors will actually set you up with a complete Satellite TV system absolutely FREE!

So before ordering a Satellite system from DISH NETWORK we suggest you save yourself a pile of money by doing your homework first.

If you want a site that has the Best FREE Deals on DISH NETWORK Take a look HERE.

Read This and You Will Never be Scammed Again!

October 14th, 2008

Online business is becoming an ever increasing field of scammers that exploit the hopes and aspirations of common people like you and me. However, because of this increasing number of scam programmes available online, it is becoming easier to identify them and avoid falling into their attractive traps!!! The repeated fraud can now be spotted much easier from experts that follow the developments in the field of online products. I am going to give some hints here on how to spot scams, before it is too late!!

If you do not want to become another “expert” victim of such scams you must understand how they “charm” people to fall into the wolf’s mouth. For example you cannot trust most programmes out there, especially in the self-help field, for common sense reasons. If someone says you will find info you have never read about is probably a scam..When they say their programme is worth hundreds but they leave it only for few tens, that doesn’t sound as a reliable programme. Beyond that, the fact is that most programmes offer the same things over and over again… What you need is to look for those with the greatest success, the most popular, the ones that are widely respected- if there are any..

Other very common practices, that I have encountered repeatedly, include putting special offers and giving away free gifts. Allthough in some cases the gifts may - ironically- at times be more valuable than the product itself, giving it away is like bribing you to do a stupid thing; buy their scam! In the case of special offers the trick is too obvious..they tell you tht this offer is for limited time only- lets say for a couple of days- but even if go back after that period you will still find the offer there!!

But it is not only suspicious practices that catch your attention. There are also characteristics you can consider as worthy of your trust. If the programmes are offered from people that have some vast experience in their relative field, they tend to be more popular and successful, and thus the more reliable their products are! However, you should always do some research and look out for the scams yourself, or even better become a member at www.thementalman.com/services.html and get all the free advice you cannot easily find elsewhere in the internet.

Check out the top quality programmes online and become an expert in spotting scam programmes at http://www.thementalman.com/services.html for free as a member of The Mental Man website.
