6 Ways To Use Customer & Sales Newsletters

May 31st, 2008

Sell More Higher-Margin Products
Businesses that find they’re not earning much profit, despite strong sales, may have allowed low-margin products to become their mainstay.

A newsletter can emphasize higher margin products, among both customers and employees. For employees, reiterate the benefits (for them and the company) of selling a product or set of products with a higher profit margin. For customers, let them know these products exist, how to buy them, and outline the benefits of using them.

Go From Commodity To Branded Status
Control over pricing is one important advantage a branded product provides over a commodity. Of course, the process of moving a product to branded status starts with incorporation of some value-added feature. But once you add that value you want to make sure your customers know.

A marketing newsletter provides critical communication for the branding process. After all, increasing the cost of a commodity without explaining benefits could lead customers to switch to another supplier. Before the price goes up customers should expect the increase, understand the added value, and appreciate the extra benefits they receive.

Penetrate New Markets Or Territories
Often, sales people focus on existing customers and existing business. That’s not surprising, but not necessarily in your best long-term interests. All businesses need at least some prospecting and new customers. The problem: rewards from prospecting and developing new business come slowly, compared to returns from current customers.

A marketing newsletter can be an effective first-line. Using lists prepared by your sales people, or representatives of the areas you want to enter, mail out your print newsletter and a response form. If you publish a free electronic newsletter, look for ways to find new subscribers in the target area.

The newsletter should make it simple for potential customers to contact you, to ask for information about your products, or to ask a sales person to call. Plan to send multiple issues of the newsletter, since repeat exposures are key to developing new business.

Internal Marketing
Marketing, for good reason, usually focuses on externally-oriented activity. However, one school of thought argues that internal marketing matters, too. Essentially, internal marketing helps ensure that everyone within your organization knows what you sell, and why customers should buy from you. And, don’t forget attitude. Everyone in the organization should be a booster of the company’s products.

Articles and other pieces that sell to external customers can also help employees. Articles in marketing newsletters should not be written for employees, but they should be kept in mind.

Reduce After-Sale Dissonance
After-sales dissonance refers to our natural inclination to wonder if we got a good deal after we bought something. A buyer who feels that he or she got a poor deal will probably not be a repeat customer, or cause other, costly problems.

You can reduce buyer dissonance by publishing the names of some prominent customers (with their permission, of course). That makes other customers feel secure by knowing that they’re in good company. Also, consider the security-in-numbers idea, reporting on the number of purchases made in a specific period.

Customer Feedback
To think of the newsletter only as an instrument of outward-bound communication misses one of its most powerful possibilities. Use a newsletter to bring in customer complaints, compliments, and suggestions, too.

Some of the more important customer responses include:
* complaints about product performance
* ideas for improvements in products
* ideas for new products
* referrals to new customers
* satisfaction levels
* reports on needs or unsolved problems in the marketplace

These are just a half dozen of the many ways in much you might use a customer or marketing newsletter, demonstrating the power and reach of effective newsletters.

Social Skills and Problem Solving: A Coaching Method for Guiding Your Kids to Solve Problems Wisely

May 31st, 2008

When you want your kids to make better decisions, and especially teens and tweens, they are not going to change until they see that what they are currently doing is not helping them. To help them refashion their vision, you can be the catalyst without being the bad guy.

Use the questions that follow to help your kids grapple with issues important to their lives-getting along with friends, getting homework done or making smart choices in the face of peer pressure. Kids have a lot of wisdom we don’t always see. By posing questions, you guide them to manage their lives without telling them what to do.

Start as young and early as you feel your children are able to handle the thinking process behind these questions. You can adjust language and details for age and developmental stage.

First, Some Dos and Don’ts:

Do not choose topics for these questions that may require you to over rule the decision your child comes up with.

Do: Stay in the present. Your kids know the history very well and getting into past behaviors will just turn them off. You want the focus to stay on growth and future behaviors.

Do not be pushy about getting to the answers-just let them live for a while with the question.

Do: Stay neutral. No judgments. No opinion. No lectures. And no rubbing it in later if they falter. Give them space, time to practice, and to learn what to do with success and failure.

Do not overload. Just one question can be a big bite for your child to chew on for a while.

Do: Introduce the questions gently. You know your child and how much and how receptive he or she is likely to be with your new strategy. Presentation can mean everything here!

Problem Solving Coaching Questions

1. Can you accept the results or consequences of the behavior you are choosing now?

2. Are you thinking short term or long term? Which do you think is the best way to go with this?

3. Can you accept responsibility for whatever happens as a result of your choices?

4. Do you see that behavior is a choice?

5. What do you want one year from now? What do you want one month from now?

6. Is it reasonable to believe what you are currently doing will get you the best thing in the long run?

7. What are you doing now that’s not working?

8. What would you like to do differently in the future?

9. Is what you are doing right now helping you with what you really really want for yourself?

10. What makes you feel proud of yourself?

Now parents, step aside and let your children and these questions take their course. If your kids are receptive to giving you feedback that is great. But you may not need to hear any words; the resulting behavior change will speak to you.

Boost Your Savings

May 30th, 2008

It is general knowledge that residents of the United Kingdom are typically not savers. They tend to spend much more than they save; according to studies, saving money is not as popular as it once was. Saving is extremely important to the quality of life you expect to live in the future. Think about it, what would happen if your car suddenly quit working? What would you do if the heater or refrigerator within your home just decided to give up one day? Imagine a situation where an emergency occurred and you had to travel immediately for some reason, what would you do?

Saving your money within an account can be an excellent source of immediate funds for an unexpected emergency. It makes a great deal of sense to simply put away money into an interest bearing account for these types of events, instead of having to take out a loan or bill a credit card for them. If you do either of these things will result in more debt and higher interest payments. Many experts believe that you need to set your priorities in the right direction and you should attempt to, over time, save an equal to your salary over a three month period.

Many people may find this a lot of money to put back when bills need to be paid, that is fine, consider saving as much as you possibly can without setting yourself into a deeper hole. If you simply saved £100 a week over a three-month period you would have saved £1,200 (not including any interest accrued), that would likely pay for a broke refrigerator or a significant amount on a new or repaired heater. There are many different types of savings accounts that you can consider, some of which do not require substantial deposits.

Typically, a banking institution will access a tax on the interest prior to adding it into your savings account, for example a taxpayer at the basic rate level will be accessed twenty (20) percent, while a taxpayer at a higher rate will be accessed forty (40) percent. For those who do not pay taxes, no taxes are deducted from the interest. For those who are non-taxpayers, you will be required to fill out a R85 form, this will allow you to avoid the taxes and receive the total interest accrued on the account.

One thing people should definitely consider is an ISA (Individual Savings Account), the government of the United Kingdom, created these types of accounts in efforts to encourage residents to save their money. In this account, they allow you to save your money in an amount of £3,000 or less yearly, that will be considered tax-free.

Mystery Shopping: Take It Seriously

May 30th, 2008

Mystery Shopping is a great way to make some extra money. No bosses or set hours, just a short assignment and a deadline from a mystery shopping provider. All you do is perform your assigned task, file a report, and get paid. Occasionally, your job comes with a meal or item reimbursement, which means you get to eat or shop for free. Just remember that with this very nice flexibility and fringe benefits package come some very real responsibilities.

The person who hired you has a contract with the company that hired them and must meet their contract requirements and a deadline. Therefore, you’re expected to perform as they ask on the jobs you accept. While you can accept or decline jobs as you see fit, once you get one, it’s your responsibility to do it properly.

Failure to perform your job is what is called ‘flaking’ in the Mystery Shopping industry. If you flake, it’s all but certain the company you let down won’t hire you again. Plus, Mystery Shopping has it’s own forums (like the MSPA site), so if you really screw up, they can tell anyone else who might have hired you in the future about it.

Mystery shopping is a nice way to go, but it’s very real. You’ll face consequences if you treat it like a game or a something-for-nothing freebie. If you can’t do a shop, don’t take it. If you accept a shop and something happens that prevents you from doing it, inform the company that hired you immediately so they can get someone else. But whatever you do, don’t flake, or any future job options in this field may be closed to you someday.

How To Choose Your New Credit Card

May 30th, 2008

Choosing a new credit card is not just a personal choice. It’s a lifestyle choice. There are hundreds of credit cards to choose from and savvy shoppers will want to choose credit cards that suit the way they spend and the things they want to do.

Why Do You Need A Credit Card?

First of all, consumers need to consider why they need a credit card. For example, some people may be using the credit card to improve their personal cash flow. They could do this by banking your salary, putting all purchases on the credit card and paying it off before the interest is due. Meanwhile, their salary sits in a current or savings account earning interest.

Other people may want to use their credit card for occasional luxury purchases, such as going on holiday or having a day out with some friends. Still others may use a credit card to pay for purchases where they want the extra consumer protection many credit cards offer. Paying by credit card gives consumers some comeback if there is a fault with the item purchased. This can be useful if manufacturers don’t want to give a refund.

Some people may want to use their credit card to have ready access to cash, for example when going on holiday. People who are planning to use their credit cards for cash advances will need to choose a card that has a low rate for this type of transaction.

How Will You Repay The Credit Card?

The next question people need to ask is how they want to make the payments. If they want to clear thier credit card each month, they will need a different type of credit card to someone who is planning to clear only part of the balance.

It is also useful to check on introductory rates, balance transfer rates and any special offers that apply when taking out a new credit card. Some credit cards offer lifetime balance transfer rates that are much lower than the standard variable rate. Others offer reductions in the variable rate for periods of up to 12 months. Still others offer an incentive for taking out the card, such as cash back or a sports bag.

What Incentives Are There?

Another area to look at is incentives for using the credit card. For example, some credit cards offer cash back on credit card purchases which people can apply to pay off the card. Others offer discounts when the credit card is used with certain manufacturers. Still others offer the option of making charitable contributions on customers’ behalf.

A key area to consider is the annual percentage rate (APR). This is the rate that customers pay on purchases once the incentive period has run out. These rates vary considerably, so it is worth shopping around.

Credit Card Payment Rates And Fees

The minimum payment is another area of concern. Minimum payments on outstanding balances tend to start around 3% but some may be lower and others may be much higher. Finally, the interest free period is of big concern - you’ll want to go for the longest period you can get to keep those payments down.

Finally, consumers need to consider any other fees that might apply to the credit card account. Some credit cards charge one-off setup fees; others charge annual fees; still others charge no fees for owning the card. It’s best for consumers to read the small print to see what fees and rates apply to the cards they have chosen.

Mood Vs Temperament

May 28th, 2008

Lets see Temperament & mood face to face. When we observe people we either see temperament i.e. nature, temper, personality of a person or we check the mood of a person whether he / she is sad, happy, angry, etc. Mood & temperament might indicate similar emotions so lets elaborate & differentiate them in detail.

The consistency of a specific type of emotional responses determines the “TEMPERAMENT” . Temperament is a outlook of the personality which is exposed in the tendency & predisposition to experience moods.

The exceptional attribute of a temperament is that its likely to be persistent and, as such, show which emotion plays a influential role in the persons life.

On the other hand, MOOD is a temporary emotional reaction. Mood & temperament might indicate similar emotions but TEMPERAMENT INFLUENCE THE PERSONS CHARACTERISTICS OF ADJUSTING OF LIFE WHILE MOOD INFLUENCES ONLY THE PRESENT PATTERN OF ADJUSTEMENT.

Because of the persistency of a temperament, we can predict how a person will react & response to at certain circumstances with an extent. We can’t guess & predict the person’s mood will be at any specific time or moment. But if we know that a person has personality / character or his nature is averagely cheerful & happy then we can be sure that he will not respond / react irritated or annoyed even over the small problem, instead he will may solve it pleasantly.

By distinguishing, the person who has ruthless nature or temperament, he can respond with rigid & anger with same amount to the nature of problem or obstacle.

He can also develop an attitude to express his anger and rigid-ness as he did it consistently (habitually) in the past by his out bursting temperament, by blaming, criticizing, abusing / attacking verbally or physically for a problem / failure / obstacle on the person / thing / pet or whoever & whatever may be.

Although MOODS influence to respond in the similar way as temperament and responses are less obvious. As compare to the temperament MOODS are the short-lived / temporary emotions and doesn’t signify the person’s habit of reacting emotionally. Moods are determined by the emotional state of a mind & can change frequently time to time. Just like u may eat snacks while watching movie or having tea / coffee in variation.

So the major difference is that moods are short living & temperament arelong living. Always remember We are what we repeatedly do. So it is better to analyze your temperaments by comparing good, bad & ugly.

Thanks for your time consideration

Choosing the Best Online Music Service.

May 28th, 2008

Okay, it’s time for me to finally say goodbye to my portable
disc player, and join the online and portable music revolution.
Okay, the revolution isn’t so new any more, nor is my computer,
but as I wade through the sea of options for how to download
music, listen to and buy online tracks, I grow more eager to get
my feet wet and eventually suit up to take the plunge. But I
happen to be a bit more practical than that. So, I’ve spent a
considerable amount of time over the last few weeks trying to
determine what’s best for my lifestyle, my wallet and my
computer.

First thing I realized when searching all of the music services
is that things seemed to work a lot smoother with a broadband
connection (and most services seem to point that out from the
get go). Just like my CD Walkman, the time had come for me to
lose my ancient dial-up connection to the online experience. It
actually turned out to work in my favor as my cable company gave
me a good deal on high-speed, and also threw in a discount on my
existing costs for cable TV.

Now that I was “connected” at an acceptable speed to the Web, I
had to determine, what I was trying to get out of the online
music experience. After some intense melodious soul searching, I
realized that the only thing the separated me from the
perpetually hip is perhaps the types of music I was searching
for, and the amount of time I wanted to spend online searching
for music.

The guy who sits next to me has a 60 GB iPod, and is complaining
that it is almost full. That’s over seven thousand songs. I
don’t know that I would even live long enough to listen to that
many songs. My needs were simpler. I had an MP3 player still in
the box from two Christmas’ ago, and it promised to hold over
500 songs. That would be perfect for me, at least in the short
term.

Next, what was I looking for in my new online music experience?
Did I want to listen to music on my PC, in my car or on my MP3
player? Yes to all three. Did I want to listen to the radio
while I was on my PC? Again, yes. Did I want to trade music with
others online in a peer-to-peer Napster-like environment? Eh,
that one scared me a little, and I decided that opening up my
files to strangers made me feel dirt, so I put that one on hold.

My next stop in determining how I would “music online” was
price. I searched dozens of sites and services, but narrowed my
sights to three of the big guys: AOL Music Now, iTunes and
Rhapsody Music Service (provided by Real Networks).

I already had AOL, so I signed up for their Music Now product
for $8.99/month (that’s in addition to their monthly fee as an
ISP). I was able to download songs, listen to them while
“offline” and burn them to CD or move them over to my MP3 player
for an additional fee per song. That seemed to be standard
across most of the services. Music Now was a follow up to the
original AOL Music Net, which I actually liked better because it
ran locally on machine and the new Web-based Music Now takes
much longer. AOL also has a partnership with iTunes, so you can
be on AOL, but iTunes will launch and then you’re actually in
the iTunes application. It’s confusing. If I want to move my
downloaded songs to my MP3 player, the monthly fee jumps to
$14.95 per month, and if I want to put them on a CD, I pay and
additional 99 cents per track. This is too much money for me. I
typically buy one or two CD’s a month, and that would be cheaper
than this online service. Not to mention you have to be an
existing AOL member (more money per month) in order to even use
the product. I’m passing on AOL Music Now.

On to iTunes. Okay, so there is no monthly fee for iTunes. Love
that. And I can purchase songs for 99 cents per track. Love that
too. But wait. I don’t have an iPod, and iTunes has songs in
their proprietary MP4 format. Ugh. The cheapest iPod out there
is around $99 (so much for no monthly fee), and it’s not the
model I would select. I like my MP3 player. If I already had an
iPod, this may be the route I would go, but Apple tends be very
inflexible, and I hate to be tied to one provider, player and
format. There is also a limit to how you can share the songs on
your home network. I feel like even though I own the song, I’m
being watched on what I do with it. Good bye big brother.

Rhapsody Music Service from Real Networks. So far they are the
least expensive. $9.99 per month and that’s with unlimited
access to over 1.3 million songs. I do have to have pay the
additional 99 cent fee if I want to burn to CD or transfer to my
MP3, but that is the industry standard for paying the artists,
and the monthly fee is five dollars less per month than AOL. The
music comes over in the more widely supported MP3 format and the
songs are mine to rip transfer or share with my other computers
on my home network. Like the other two, I can listen to live
radio on my pc, but I like the freedom I get with Rhapsody Music
Service. I’m not being watched, and the music is mine.

Now that I know how to download music and have chosen Rhapsody
Music Service, I’m on my way to joining the new world of
portable digital music. I’ve already burned several CD’s for my
car, albeit with an older man’s twist on today’s favorites, and
transferred those same songs over to my little antiquated MP3
player for those long weekend walks.

Now I’ve got to start looking for a replacement for my VCR.
Onward and upward!

Pet Care - There’s No Other Job Quite Like It

May 28th, 2008

“Pets are such agreeable friends, they ask no questions and they pass no criticisms” said George Eliot about pet animals. Pets often reciprocate the love that their masters lavish on them by demonstrating various forms of affection including licking, hickeys, even love-bites.

There’s no other job quite like keeping a pet. Pet care is in fact a permanent job, and includes the very important functions of grooming and striving to maintain good pet health care. General pet supplies could be considered a definition of useful tools for grooming and keeping your pet in good health.

Pet Supplies:

An essential list of pet supplies for purchase could include the following: pet food and food dishes, pet id tags and collars, pet medications, supplements and tonics, etc. Some other items to consider are animal carriers, pet houses and furniture, pet beds, clothes, and pet jewelry.

Online Pet Supplies:

Online pet supplies are supplies that can be purchased from pet stores over the Internet. There are numerous pet grooming product manufacturers and pet-grooming stores selling their products online through their individual official websites.

Pet Grooming Supplies:

Pet grooming supplies include items such as grooming clippers, pet hair care products, soaps, shampoo and perfumes.

Pet Health Care:

Pet health care is a very important responsibility of pet ownership. For puppies and kittens, or any other four-legged pets, important treatments would include giving a hygiene bath, cleaning, combing, brushing, checking ears, paws, teeth and underside of the tongue, nail trimming, removing fleas and insects, and fixing regular meetings with a professional veterinary. A good pet owner should follow a regular schedule of grooming sessions.

Pet care can require a lot of patience. Like children, pets often require special attention. A puppy, kitten or any other pet in its infancy needs to be handled with extreme care. In particular they must be groomed properly, fed carefully, and bedded properly.

Choosing A Pet:

The process of choosing a pet is very important. Choosing a pet depends on one’s preferences, but there are still some important things that should be kept in mind. One should always choose an animal of good breed. Secondly, the pet should be healthy especially if it is still in the initial stage of its life. A healthy young pet shows good fast growth.

Pet Grooming Business:

The pet grooming business is a flourishing business today. There are numerous pet grooming schools offering the equivalent services of a pet grooming professional. People hire the services of these professional experts for the proper grooming of their pets. Professional pet grooming is becoming quite popular in United States, Canada, and European countries.

Finding Your Path

May 27th, 2008

What you try or attempt is the process of finding your path.

You must follow your deep yearnings, desires and curiosities. This is how you discover your path and your purpose.

By ignoring those inner feelings and merely making decisions based on your current condition is to stifle what you could become. If you do that you will just experience more of what you already are.

The inner urges, drives and curiosities you feel is evidence that your self is trying to express through you. In order to discover what you can evolve into you must allow yourself to be open to inner guidance with faith and trust.

Start by following what intuitive messages you now notice, and go from there. You will learn to be more receptive to this as you honor and accept what you are aware of now.

You will likely not have the whole path mapped out. As you go in the direction of the indications you have with openness and faith, you will find that you become more and more receptive to additional detail.

It will be revealed to you as you change and awaken to what is really possible to you. Only by moving forward, taking action can you fully discover your next possible opportunity.

Without forward movement, your whole mental capacity will remain static. You will be stuck requesting and receiving more of the same.

Take a look at a tree, everyday is different. It’s constantly evolving, it’s never the same, always growing. Notice how through the yearly growth cycle it is always a little bigger. It is also continuously changing, new leaves, branches, roots, blossoms, fruit, seeds or nuts that weren’t there last year, continuously becoming more of itself.

The only way it grows bigger is with continuous activity that supports growth and change. The possibility for a large full-grown tree is revealed a little bit each year.

The tree has a path, even though it may not know exactly how tall it will grow, how many branches it will have and exactly where they will be located, it keeps growing into itself.

Just like a tree, you need to be actively seeking your next opportunity, like your branches, blossoms and fruit.

Just like a tree allow the life energy from within to rise up and allow you to branch out and blossom.

Your full potential comes from within, allow it to reveal itself and you will discover your path. Following this inner guidance with faith and trust reveals the happiness you seek.
